A note from our nutritionist Katie about the heat & eat: many people are scared to eat ‘heavier, warming foods’ for lunch and dinner, fearing that they are too high in calories. My personal opinion is that we need to focus on 3 good quality, ‘proper’ meals per day that provide satiety for 4-5 hours. Consider this; a filling, proper meal containing a good balance of vegetables, protein and slow release carbohydrates will keep you satisfied right through until the next meal time. Alternatively, a calorie restricted, ‘diet’ option might leave you wanting to chew your own arm off within just a short time and soon you’ll be visiting the vending machine for a chocolate fix instead, just to get you through. *General advice only. Typical western breakfasts are cereal from a box or a couple of slices of toast. These don’t offer us a great deal of nutrition and they tend to be high in carbohydrates (including sugar), but lacking protein and fats. This can set us up for a day of fluctuating blood sugar levels and cravings for sweet things. At All Real Food we believe in balance and we don’t think you should feel guilty about enjoying something sweet from time to time.
